How to Choose a Scissor Lifts
Choosing the right scissor lift for the job is very important to operator safety and equipment performance. The following is a standard list of questions that must be asked before choosing a lift. Having this information at hand when calling or emailing our sales representatives will help speed the process along for you.
1. CAPACITY Know the capacity required and build in a safety factor. We suggest at least 15% to allow for some future expansion.
2. LOADS All loads are to be centered loads. If you require a side load or end load let your sales person know so we can design accordingly.
3. TYPE OF USE What will the lift be used for? Depending on the installation location and type of use, various safety considerations must be addressed. Will the unit be used simply in a production line, or will it be used as work station with nearby personnel? Give your sales person as much information as possible.
4. PLATFORM Standard platforms are listed in the model charts. If you require a non-standard size, simply let your sales person know and engineering will do a review.
5. LOWERED HEIGHT See charts for standard lowered heights. If these heights do not meet your requirements let your sales person know and they will have engineering look for a solution.
6. RAISED HEIGHT See charts for standard raised heights. If these heights do not meet your requirements let your sales person know and they will have engineering look for a solution.
7. POWER SOURCE Let your sales person know how you would like your unit powered: single phase, three phase, air over hydraulic, pneumatic only, manual, explosion proof etc.
8. CYCLES How many times will the unit cycle during an 8 hour shift? High cycle applications may require a high cycle package.
9. INFORMATION Information is the key. Give your sales person as much information as possible about the installation and requirements of your unit. This information will be used to ensure the right equipment for the job, and years of trouble free operation.
